LOCAL FOOTBALL: RH WORKING IN THE COMMUNITY WITH BANBURY UNITED Tomorrow afternoon Banbury United kick-off their season with a home game against North Wiltshire side Chippenham Town in the Calor League Southern Premier Division. Match Preview by Programme Editor, David Shadbolt Tomorrow will see United embarking upon their tenth consecutive season in the Southern League Premier Division. Ironically, the only other club who can match that record are our guests Chippenham Town. It thus seems fitting that we should meet on opening day! The last time we met Chippenham at home it was noted that we had not beaten them in any of the last fifteen games between the sides. Well that long sequence without a win was blown away in some sytle last season with United doing the double over the Wiltshire side, the win at Hardenhuish Park in January being our first ever there! Though they have signed for Banbury this season, both Wayne Blossom and Kynan Isaac will not be involved as they both still have one match suspensions to serve, a carry over from last season. For those who have not been to pre-season friendlies, and probably even for those who have, there are a number of new faces in the Banbury squad that supporters will need to familiarise themselves with. As a one-off a full list of Banbury United player profiles appears in tomorrow’s programme, that is profiles for all players to have signed on for us up to Wednesday of this week. The lack of a signed on goalkeeper has been of concern to many over recent days but Ben McNamara’s Southern League registration was faxed to the Southen Leauge office today so barring any unexpected developments he is expected to be between the posts against Chippenham tomorrow. There would appear though to have been less changes in personnel at Chippenham over the summer than here at the Spencer Stadium with many familiar names likely to appear on their teamsheet including Alan Griffin who has an impressive goalscoring record against Banbury over the years. Kick-Off at the Spencer Stadium tomorrow is 3.00pm. *A reminder we will be back live from the ground from Our Sew Sublime Match Day Studio from 2.30pm with Sportsound Special Live, with Match Day Commentary and Interviews.*
