*** LODD ALERT *** This is a line of duty death alert. Level 1, Felony Caused Death, POLICE AP WIRE A Cedar County Sheriff’s deputy and another man are dead after a shootout in El Dorado Springs early Sunday morning. It started just before 12:30 a.m. as the deputy tried to pull over the driver for having no headlights at the intersection of Highways 54 and 82. The driver sped off and the deputy chased the car through town, it finally ended at Hickory and High streets where a passenger in the car jumped out. Missouri Highway Patrol Spokesman Jason Pace said, The occupant fled the vehicle, a foot chase ensued, then led to a fight and exchange of gunfire. Deputy Matthew Chism was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries. Chism was 25-years-old, and he leaves behind a wife and a small child. Chism had been with the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office since January 2013. The name of passenger who died hasnt been released. He was 28-years-old and from El Dorado Springs. The driver was arrested at a nearby home.
