**LONG POST. BUT WORTH IT** I just had a 75 minute massage. While laying there, I had one consistent thought, the whole time.... I am SO SO lucky to know so many WOMEN, personally, who own their own business. And their business is something that involves HELPING people. Helping people get fit or feel better about themselves or just helping their customers physically feel good. Kay Michels Goode (Quality Time Massage) has been massaging me for 12 yrs. What a blessing it has been to be a friend and client of hers. Stephanie Wilburn Duwe ( Simply Yoga) has transformed my body and help keep my self confidence, at an all time high. She is my go to girl lately, and what she has brought to my life is nothing short of amazing. Lauri Ann Lumby (Reiki-sorry Lauri couldnt think of the name of your business) has healed me when I felt like I couldnt crawl out of my slump. She healed me with her hands and her faith. Blows my mind when I think of the two specific times I needed her energy, and in 90 minutes left feeling lighter and happier. Shes an angel. And then theres me. I opened Oshkosh Tattoo & Good Girl Piercing almost 8 yrs ago. Scared shitless. With a $65,000.00 business loan to pay off. I put my head down and went. Knowing that I was about to own a business that was gonna house 4-5 people who needed to make a living. I was ready to work 7 days a week to make sure my customers were treated the way they deserved to be treated. I wanted to be the best. The friendliest. I only wanted good people working with me. Genuine people. Kind people. These are only three of the many woman in our area, who took the leap (and the business loan-ha), went against traditional thinking and opened businesses to HELP OTHER PEOPLE. Of course the all mighty $$$ is something we all think about when opening businesses. We want to make sure we can live and pay bills. We are just fortunate to have opened businesses where people walk out our doors feeling better than when they walked in. Owning a small business is grueling, and doesnt come with the large amounts of money, that is associated with owning your own business. There are many days, the only reason we decide to push on, is seeing the smiles on our customers faces. Kari Ann (Oregon Club), Lyndsey Houle (hair salon), Trisha (Trillium Salon), Beth Caramanidis (Arts for Kids). A few more of the MANY, women, business owners in our area. I am proud to know these women and more than happy to support their businesses. After-all, supporting them is making me a better person.
