LOOKING UNTO JESUS *A Must Read* And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it , shall live. - Numbers 21 vs 8 Hello Beloved, what a topic this is, and what blessing it will be to your soul, even as you open up your heart to it. God Bless You. From the passage of our opening scripture, we find that God plagued the children of Israel with poisonous snakes which bit them and a large number of them died because they murmured against God and against Moses their Prophet. Now, lets hit the focus. They cried out to God for mercy, and God heard. Now, what was Gods rescue plan? Lets examine our opening scripture again; And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. - Numbers 21 vs 8 {KJV} Did you notice what God told Moses? He made Moses mold the fiery/poisonous serpent that bit/tormented them, and he hung it on a pole, that whosoever shall look upon it that was bitten, shall live. Waow! What does this interpretes? Now, the molded serpent speaks of Jesus, who took upon Himself the form of sin, that we may be free from sin; For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. - 2 Corinthians 5 vs 21 {KJV} You see it? The pole in which Moses hung the molded serpent speaks of the Cross of Jesus. Now, the molded serpent Moses hung on the pole was made of a certain material. Lets see it; And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived. - Numbers 21 vs 9 {KJV} You see that? The serpent was made of brass/bronze, and brass/bronze speaks of Judgement! Meaning God was saying by this, that the serpent and its effects (which was their problem) was judged on the pole in the molded serpent. Waow! This is a perfect view of the works of Jesus on the cross. Lets see what Jesus says; And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up... - John 3 vs 14 {KJV} Waow! This is the Master Himself talking. He said, just as the serpent was lifted up, so He must be lifted up also. Do you know what this means? The people suffered of serpents and their poison, hence, God had to lift up a serpent on a pole, and judged the physical serpents and their effects in the molded serpent. Therefore, the molded serpent was made in the form of the serpents so that the physical serpents and all their effects could be judged in it. It was impossible for the serpents to be judged if the image was made in the form of a dog. It had to be in the form of a serpent for serpents to be judged. Likewise Jesus! He had to be made sin for us, so that sin could be totally judged in Him! Hallelujah. He was made sin for us on the cross, hence, all our sins were judged in Him! He was made a curse for us {Galatians 3 vs 13} on the cross, hence, all curses hanging on us were judged in Him! He was made grief (sicknesses, weaknesses and diseases) for us on the cross {Isaiah 53 vs 4}, hence, all our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses and diseases) were judged in Him on the cross, just as the serpents were judged in the molded serpent on the pole. Waow! Can somebody shout Hallelujah? Hallelujah! All that was needed for the people to be healed was to look upon the pole! And this is so in line with what we are told in Hebrews 12 vs 2; Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. {KING JAMES VERSION} You see that? He says looking unto Jesus. My dear, look! In the wilderness back then when the deadly fiery serpents bit the people, it was doubtlessly painful and unbearable, yet in the midst of the pains, God instructed them to look! Listen, sicknesses and diseases in a believer is a testing of his faith. Cancer in a believer is different from cancer in an unbeliever. Cancer in an unbeliever is a threat on his life, but cancer in a believer is a test of his faith. My dear, despise the pain and look unto Jesus. Look! Look! and keep Looking. Note that they looked at a physical pole and a physical serpent, but we, we have no cross to physically look upon, we have no Jesus to physically look upon. How then do we look unto Jesus for our healing, strength and comfort? Its very simple, we look by ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. Acknowledging the works of Jesus on the cross, holding on to the truth in faith that all your sins, sicknessess, weaknessess, and diseases were judged in Christ Jesus on the cross, refusing to let your eyes down on this truth because of the pains you feel, refuse to observe the waves like Peter who sank right in the presence of Jesus. {Matthew 14 vs 30} But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. - Matthew 14 vs 30 {KJV} This was Peters problem, fears and doubts. When he stepped out from the ship at first, he got his eyes fixed on the Master, and he walked on the water. But the moment he got his eyes off the Master, and set them upon the waves of the sea, he lost contact with Grace! And thats what happens to us each time we get our eyes off the Truth of Gods word. Lets view that scripture from the Amplified Bible; And Moses made a serpent of bronze and put it on a pole, and if a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked to the serpent of bronze [ [a] attentively, expectantly, with a steady and absorbing gaze], he lived. - Numbers 21 vs 9 {AMPLIFIED BIBLE} Here, it talks about the attitude required for looking. * Looking Attentively, * Looking Expectantly, * Looking Steadily. You see? So our faith in the works of Jesus must be with an expectation to get the result of it. As you declare your victory over sin and guilts in Christ Jesus, do it with a steadfast expectation to live above sin and guilts. As you declare your divine health in Christ Jesus which was wrought on the Cross, do it with a steadfast expectation to receive healing. There must be an expectation, a steady expectation, not a wavery one, never forget that! He made mention of Attentiveness, and that speaks of seriousness and readiness. As you do your confessions, do them with all seriousness and readiness of mind. Remember, confession is a proof of faith. No one can say he has faith in the word of God if it is not voiced out from his mouth. - Selah. But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh... - Romans 10 vs 6 {KJV} Faith has a voice, Faith speaks! My dear, are you sick? Dont look at the pain, look upon Jesus! Looking at their bitten body and holding on to the pain was not what saved them, but their looking unto the brass/bronze serpent on the pole. The Bible records that it was those that beheld the serpent on the pole that lived. {Numbers 21 vs 9} Crying wont take away the cancer! No it wont! Crying wont heal the HIV! No it wont! Crying wont heal the leaping! No it wont! Only those who looks upon the Cross will live! God Bless You. - Pastor Jenning Uweye
