LOVE AND ART > Michael Simpson I partially agree with what I believe is a idealistic proposal; that is that love is the only avenue to the artistic endeavor. Love is of paramount importance, depending on where this love is directed. Love for people and things can either break you or inspire you. Many an artist’s dream has been shattered or maladjusted because the dreamer did not send their love in the right direction I have found that for me as an artist there is only one kind of love that really matters; that is the love for the process of creating art. The object of this love can be a very jealous one and the jealousy of this love can inundate you in a flood of poverty, self –doubt, animosity , anger and regret the result of which is a world of pain. This pain for some can serve as a catalyst for artistic undertakings When you understand this then you will truly understand what Charles Bukowski means when he says the following ART when the spirit wanes the form appears CHARLES BUKOWSKI
