LOVE CAMP OLMSTED? SIGN UP TO BE A CAMPMASTER If you love Camp Olmsted as much as everyone else, we invite you to consider becoming a Campmaster. The Campmaster Corps is a group of Scouters who support weekend camping at Camp Olmsted. Scout units and other groups that use any part of the camp properties are greeted by and assisted by a Campmaster during their visit. The Campmaster helps groups gain access to the facilities and provide equipment, programs, and other friendly services to all our visitors. Working with the Ranger Staff, the Campmaster Corps is the primary customer service team for our be- loved Camp. Campmasters arrive at Camp on Friday evenings of your choosing (not every Friday! Just a few weekends each year). Campmasters stay at our newly rennovated Durnell Campmaster Lodge that includes beds, kitchen equipment and amenities, and private bathrooms. Some Campmasters serve as a husband and wife team and enjoy a weekend away at camp while helping the camp. You can select your own weekend and frequency of service, but most campmasters usually serve 2 to 6 times a year. You would help any Scout units who happen to be in camp that weekend, if any. After checking them out of camp, you would leave for home on Sunday. All registered Scouters are eligible for consideration as a Campmaster. Selection is based of ability in several areas in- cluding outdoor skills, specialized knowledge of nature, conservation, or field sports. Good people skills is a must, as is the ability to handle an emergency. Campmasters should have a working knowledge of Scouting and camping guide- lines. If you are interested, please call the Betts Scout Service Center to let us know.
