LOVING UNCONDITIONALLY But God demonstrates HIS own LOVE toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, CHRST DIED FOR US. Romans 5:8. Good afternoon family. ; ) Had a devo ready to send out and changed tracks as I started thinking on/praying over the concept of loving unconditionally. : ) This verse, I think, is one of many that point to the ideal picture of unconditional love. Christ, being fully God, knew what was in store for Him in leaving the wonders of heaven. He knew folks would hate/be envious of/shun/mistreat/falsely accuse/slander/physically torture and eventually kill Him. Yet, in spite of what He knew was coming He went anyway, showing us on many fronts what love looks like. We, on the other hand, surprised by the occasional misunderstanding/false accusation/hurt feeling/slighting/etc., often choose not to extend love unconditionally even when we ourselves have been shown time and time again, more often undeservedly so, a great deal of unconditional love. : ) How often have we all been the wicked servant portrayed in Jesus story in Mathew 18:21-35 when Peter asked Him about forgiveness? How often have we stopped to really contemplate how blessed we are in being forgiven TWICE: once at the cross when we realized, by GRACE, we were aliens and strangers to God and second as we sin each and every day? Do we really get it? ; ) If we truly did, wouldnt we be going out of our way to, in the words of the late Pastor Chuck Smith, err on the side of mercy? I hope and pray we all can stop for a few moments today and ask Daddy for some time to reflect in silence in the light of scripture and received grace. Lord love on and bless you guys!
