LPG terminal at Gangavaram Port to generate income and jobs AP will take advantage of its geography and live up to its potential of being best-placed to be the hub for liquefied natural gas. The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet arrived at what can be termed as a landmark decision to convey AP’s seriousness about development. It has approved the proposal of Petronet LNG to set up an LPG terminal at Gangavaram port near Visakhapatnam. Petronet LNG will set up 5 mmtpa project, with a capacity to ramp up to 10 mmtpa. Apart from creating many downstream industries and scores of direct and indirect employment opportunities, the project is expected to generate revenue of Rs. 3085 Crores for the State through VAT. While the project will take about four years to commission, we have called upon the developers to expedite construction and complete it within three years. The Shell LNG project in Kakinada also received approval on similar lines.
