LaPorte County Emergency Management officials will be conducting a siren test Saturday September 7th at 11am to ensure the sirens in LaPorte County are functioning properly. During the test two one-minute signals will sound, with one minute of silence between signals. During actual emergencies a three-minute signal sounds, with a short period of silence between signals, repeated one or more times. Siren tests will not take place during severe thunderstorms to avoid public confusion with excessive warnings. In any emergency, first seek shelter, then listen to AM 1420 WIMS for instructions.
