Four types of love (Eros, Storge, Philla and Agape) Eros- Greek word for sensual or eroticism, it is physical; term is not in the Bible but is portrayed in the Song of Solomon. Paul speaks about it about it in 1 Cor. 7: 8-9 ….”Better to marry than to burn”. Storge- Greek for family line; between family not mentioned directly but portrayed through Noah and family, Mary, Martha, Jacob and sons etc. Affection Ex. 20:12 Philla or Philos- Greek for brotherly or friendship. This is found in the New Testament. Rom. 12: 10 Agape- Unconditional, sacrificial, selfless, suffering love What does is meant by suffering love? It’s a love that is a choice to love that is solely as a gift that is not a response to something else. It often suffers because it is not reciprocated. Bible Verses John 3: 16 Gen 6:6 Isa 63:9 Rom 8:32 If we choose to suffer with Christ, we will also overcome with him in his resurrection! Why is that important? In his suffering he brought forth Healing Restoration Salvation Forgiveness Righteousness Eternal Life We all should learn to love like Christ/ God Passion of the Christ excerpt of Walk to Calvary and Crucifixion LTT Assignment: Centering Prayer Getting in the presence of the Lord, being still in the silence imagine yourself on a plank in a water current floating out to an island towards Jesus. Once you get there you are now in the presence of the Lord. Selah. Imagine you’re in the crowd on the way to Calvary, what does it sound and smell like? What are the people saying? What do you see? As you move closer to Christ, you see the cross on his back; it has all of YOUR sins written on it; All of the things that you have done. On the bottom of the cross, what should be YOUR name is the name of Christ. Would you, could you share in his suffering? Selah.
