Lady Tisdale is currently the tiniest bit busy—life has an annoying way of intervening at times. Therefore, I had the great good fortune to interview the heroine of Stealing Moirra’s heart, Moirra Dundotter. Ceci: Moirra, this is such a thrill for me. I know you don’t have much time so let’s get straight to the interview. Some women might be hesitant to propose marriage to a man locked in the village pillory. What possessed you to do that? Moirra: He had very nice eyes....and he was handsome....I didnt think he was a thief. (She pauses a moment before admitting) I needed a man. Ceci: Ah... I see. I suppose there were no better prospects? Moirra: None in Glenkirby. And I truly did not want to walk 3 days to the next town. Ceci: (One quick glance around the village tells me the pickings were slim. I can’t help but wonder what would Morra think about Match.Com?) How about your daughters, I believe you have several. What did they think? Moirra: I have four daughters Mariote, Muriale, Esa, and Orabilis. My oldest, Mariote, was, to say the least, NOT happy with my bringing Pillory John home as my husband. My other daughters were a wee more open minded. Ceci: (Clearly the concept of “stranger danger” was not well instilled in her younger daughters. I am about to ask about that when another thought occurs to me). Wait a minute, I need to go back to your statement I needed a man. What exactly do you mean by that? Moirra: Well, I needed a man who could help me with my crops and animals and farm, preferably, someone with a strong back and malleable mind. One who wouldnt ask too many questions. Ceci: Ah, so you have secrets. Dont we all. Do you think you can trust Pillory John, a man who wont even tell you his real name, to keep your secrets? Or is it more a case of what he doesnt know wont hurt him? Moirra: A little of both. I trust him not to kill us in our sleep, but I canna trust him with my secrets or my heart. At least not yet. Ceci: OK, one last question. I get the feeling that Pillory John is growing on you but I understand you entered a handfasting agreement and your only requirement was that he stayed with you for a few months, until the crops were in. Would you mind terribly if he stuck around a bit longer? Moirra: (She smiles slyly) Oh I want very much for John to stick around. For a very long time. I can’t blame her. Pillory John, as she calls him, is very attractive and Moirra Dundotter strikes me as a woman who knows exactly what she wants. I’m sure you will love getting to know them both better in Stealing Moirra’s Heart. Remember to enter the rafflecopter!
