Lake Effect Snow Warnings continue in western New York as round - TopicsExpress

Lake Effect Snow Warnings continue in western New York as round two of massive snow squalls come on shore. Check out this video of more Thundersnow earlier tonight (courtesy of TVNweather). They storm chasers get a bit excited about the thundersnow, but it is actually quite dangerous. Most of the lightning that occurs in thundersnow are positive strikes. There are negative and positive lightning bolts, just like there is a positive and negative side to a battery. Positive strikes normally originate from the top of the cloud. Because the positive strikes travel much further to reach the ground, they can be up to 10 times stronger and last 10 times longer than a negative .
