Lake Wateree ACTIVE Last Update: 7/8/2013 5:41:28 PM The Catawba-Wateree River Basin has experienced significant, widespread rainfall and more rain is in the forecast. Upstream Lakes James through Lookout Shoals are spilling or have a spillway gate partially open. We continue to move water through Lake Norman and Mountain Island Lake is spilling. Lake Wylie has a gate partially open. Duke Energy has partial gate openings at Fishing Creek and Cedar Creek. We have 5 units available at Wateree Hydro. Under current conditions, we expect Lake Wateree to not exceed 102.5 feet, but we do expect it to stay around 102 feet for at least several days. We continue to closely monitor conditions and operate the hydro system to reduce impacts. Updated lake levels are available any time at duke-energy/lakes/levels.asp and at 800-829-5253. As always, we encourage those living along lakes, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone areas to pay special attention to changing weather conditions and take any necessary precautions. We will provide additional updates if conditions change
