On Saturday, September 28, 2013 at approximately 4:00 p.m., Lakeland Police responded to the J C Penney, 3800 Hwy 98 N in reference to a grand theft. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a loss prevention officer who stated the suspect was dropped off at the mens entrance and entered the shoe department. He stated the suspect removed some shoes from their boxes and concealed the merchandise in several JC Penney shopping bags. The suspect then exited through the catalog entrance with the shoes. The suspect did this twice. The suspect then fled in the suspect vehicle. The suspect is described as a black female, 30 to 40 years old, wearing a soccer jersey with the number 8 on the back, shorts and a baseball cap. The suspect vehicle is a black compact vehicle.
