Laketown Wharf is home to the 2013 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb Fundraiser, which has become a favorite annual event in Panama City Beach. Panama City Beach Fire Rescue is hosting the event in memory of firefighters and first responders who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The public is invited to attend this event on Saturday, September 7. The climb consists of 110 flights of stairs (22 story building: 3 times up and 2 times down or you can climb up all 5 times) to duplicate the 110 stories of the World Trade Center Towers that the Emergency Responders had to climb that day. The climb begins at 8 a.m. and there will be a lunch/reception awards ceremony immediately following. Laketown Wharf is offering a special for those who would like to participate in the climb and stay at Laketown Wharf with rates starting at $79 a night.
