Landcruiser 383 stroker V8 Being a serious off road vehicle we custom made engine pipes and flanged them for easy maintenance, nice and high so they dont get damaged. We built a custom straight through 3.5 system with heavy duty custom 3.5 muffler. Sounds nice and tough, without being too loud. The muffler is 1.6mm thick, so it can take quite a beating off road before it gets damaged seriously. Remember, when you are offroad, you are usually a long way from home, so you dont want components fitted that wont stand up to punishment, or that hang too low. Off the shelf type mufflers are usually 2 layers of 0.5mm thick sheetmetal, and easily dented or punctured. They rely on their shape to give them strength, so once they are scraped then tend to drum and vibrate badly.
