Lang trek 2015 welcomes expressions of interest from potential adventurers for a trek in Nepal in October 2015, to Langtang Valley and Gosainkund Lakes Far from the madding crowds of trekkers to the Everest and Annapurna region; we visit one of the oldest and equally beautiful national parks in Nepal. One day’s drive from Kathmandu, we start our trek into the narrow Langtang valley between the main Himalayan range bordering Tibet to the north and the slightly lower snowy peaks to the south. This trek gives you a chance to explore the villages of the Tamang people; see spectacular mountain peaks such as Langtang Lirung (7246m) among others and visit impressive glaciers. Passing through small villages; you can try local produce including yak cheese. At a maximum elevation of 3870m – it is a great acclimatization trek before heading on to the holy Gosainkund Lakes. We will trek up to the beautifully scenic alpine lakes which are revered by both Hindu and Buddhist people; via lush rhododendron forests and picturesque villages. After that, we cross the highest pass of our trip at Laurebina La (4610m) and descend slowly through rustic mountain countryside over a few days back towards Kathmandu. With time before and after the trek in Kathmandu and surrounds – you will have plenty of time for sightseeing; shopping and immersing yourself in the local culture and meet many friendly nepali people. Departing Brisbane: on Sat 10th October 2015. Length of Trip: 23 days Length of Trek: 14 days including 2 rest and exploration days at Kyangin Gompa – our goal for Langtang and 1 ½ days at the Lakes. Also 3 days before and after the trek in Kathmandu and surrounds.
