Lao National Television celebrates 31st anniversary 2014 and The English Language News Program launches 1st December 2003. LNTV known as Lao National Television is bracing for competition as the government pursues its market economy policy The national television station pays a significant role in publicising the Partys policy and educating the public, thereby strengthening patriotism The English News Department of the Lao National Television was established on December 1, 2003 in response to a demand of the Party – Government and Lao people who are living within the country and overseas. The launch of foreign news program, particularly in English which is a widely spoken language, is in line with the government’s guideline in promoting its policy, particularly foreign relation and cooperation with the rest of the world as well as strengthening understanding of political stance and diverse and unique culture of Lao P.D.R. In addition, the English news bulletin will assist Lao people who are living abroad to follow up happening situations in their mother land and understand the achievement of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party from time to time. The English News Department was established amidst limitation of personnel and equipment facilitating news and story production. However, a strong commitment of the news team to ensure steady news broadcast, under close supervision of the Party committee and executive board of the Lao National Television, it has gone through those difficulties until the present time. Currently, its news program receives good responses from both domestic and foreign audiences. The English News program broadcasts from Monday to Saturday in a length of 5 to 15minutes. -The morning news bulletine starts from 7:35 AM on LNTV 1 - The afternoon news bulletin starts from 12:30am to 12:45am, on LNTV 1. - The evening news bulletin starts from 7:45 pm to 8:00pm, on LNTV 1. - The late night news bulletin starts from 10:45pm to 11:00pm, on LNTV 1. - The mid night news bulletin starts from 00:00:15 am, on LNTV 3. The news team also produces the news program in Lao language calls KNOW ASEAN-ຮູ້ຈັກ ອາຊຽນ which is a 15 minutes news program airs on Saturday. At present, the department comprises of six members, two male. (Permanent staff) and 3 members 1 female (Temporary staff) The English News program presents a wide range of content from politics, socio-economic development to culture and tourism and other interesting stories happen throughout the country including some special reports from overseas.
