Laos, what a disapointment! They have 3 places to see - the so called 4,000 Islands that are actually 4 to 5 islands and many little bushes on the river, they have Vang Vieng, a poor village with some streams of water to do tubing, and finally Luang Prabang, a tiny town with nice waterfalls and pools but with one million people there every day. Contrary to their Khmer neighbours that are so friendly, polite and fair, most of the Lao people are not friendly, unhelpful, and just trying to rip you off whenever they can. Agencies selling you tickets for VIP buses just to find yourself in old vans or buses with people sleeping on the floor, driving thru terrible roads, stopping 300 times and traveling at a pace of a turtle... it is the worst traveling experience I had so far in one country. Laos, what a huge disapointment!
