Laparoscopic surgeries – A cause for permanent sterility in young women ? CRAFT CON 2013 - DECEMBER 1, 2013 A recent study done at CRAFT hospitals shows an increase in around 40 % young women being diagnosed as poor ovarian responders. Lack of precision and unnecessary procedures may have surely hampered the fertility chances among these women. The study was conducted over a period of 2 years with over 2000 patients who were registered for IVF procedures. The study revealed that incidence of poor ovarian responders were at 34.2% of cycles. Further age wise segregation observed shows that almost 45% of cases belonged to women below 35. This alarming rate of increase in poor ovarian responders throws light on the fact that it is not only the age but procedures done without adequate surgical skills and based on incorrect diagnosis that can render young women infertile.
