(Lara) I posted a meme earlier I found very funny because…homebirthers catch a lot of flack; from their partners, their families, their OBs, you name it, if you talk about your planned home birth someone will have an opinion and it is usually not very nice one. So this meme made me laugh :) I have birthed in hospital, I have birthed at home. I have many amazing friends who cannot even attempt a vaginal birth and have all had peaceful surgical births. I have friends who birth at home, naturally in hospital or in birthing centers. I do not judge anyone for their choices but neither should we look down on home birth as less safe. We as parents look at the research, we calculate the risks and at the end of the day the risks are about the same if a mother is low risk, this is proven. We each have to do whats right for us but as we normalize home birth we can know that in the years to come it wont be such a shock when a mother delivers at home and we can accept it as that, her choice, a safe choice.
