Largely missing from the national conversation and media coverage are the voices and stories of the tens of millions of people who must endure pain on a daily basis. The controversy over opioid medication misuse and abuse drastically reduced the number of doctors willing to provide chronic pain care or write prescriptions for legitimate access to pain relief medications. FDA Commissioner Dr. Margaret Hamburg said, “We need to work with companies, scientists and the engineering community to come up with better abuse deterrents that actually work,” Hamburg said. In the meantime, the voices of people with chronic pain needing access to pain care and medications need to be heard. Please add your comments to the blog at the link below.
