Last Christmas: This was an unexpected delight for me. A much stronger element of sci-fi than I expected. Though as Moffat co-wrote it, we still had that little mystical/fantasy element at the end, it was wonderful in a convoluted plot twisting look at a telepathic assault on Earth. The layering of solutions was a nice touch. Though I hope Moffat isn’t painting himself into a corner with plot development. Many of the stories for the first season with Peter as the Doctor have put forward complex and involved plots. I know Peter is up to it, he becomes more magnificent as the Doctor with every performance. Top Marks for this Christmas Special. Very different from what David and Matt did. But supremely worthy as a Doctor Who episode. Just one note about Jenna as Clara. It was a clever and poignant way of working Clara back into the TARDIS. Still, this is uncharted ground for Doctor Who. Unless I’m mistaken, this is the first time an actor has decided to quit the show and then changed her mind. Moffat must think very highly of Jenna. Or maybe he’s not lined up a replacement yet? All in all, well done. Looking forward to next season. - David
