Last Friday, our 6th grade concert band and our 7th/8th grade concert band both attended the NEIBA Middle School Large Group Contest. Both groups had outstanding performances and were both awarded an Excellent+ rating. On Saturday, the middle school jazz band performed at the NEIBA Jazz Band Festival. The band sounded great and really showed how far they have come this year. The band was awarded a Superior rating. In addition, this festival also recognizes students who did outstanding work playing solos (as jazz lends itself to a lot of improvisation/soloing). Out of all of the middle school bands performing, the judges pick several honorable mentions and then one Outstanding Soloist of the Day. Our very own Janelle VandeVorde was chosen as the top soloist out of all 3A middle school bands performing! Thank you to everyone who helped vote for the HS band in the March Music Madness competition. Unfortunately, we didnt quite total up enough votes to advance to round 2. The students have really appreciated seeing the support from everyone, so thank you!
