Last Monday Jace had a follow-up appointment with Dr. Lowas along - TopicsExpress

Last Monday Jace had a follow-up appointment with Dr. Lowas along with a dressing/cap change. He also had to give a urine sample which he so easily did like a big boy. (I think this guy is ready for potty training!) His labs looked great and he was green lighted to start his last two week stretch of Accutane pills. This is the FINAL medicine on his study to complete his 15 month treatment plan! I cant even believe Im writing that. What a busy week for all of us. Jace and Julie spent their last day together on Tuesday :( It was super hard to imagine her not coming back. Our family is so lucky to have crossed paths with such a wonderful person. She loved Jace and gave him the one on one time he needed at this point in his life. We cannot thank her enough for everything shes done not only for Jace, but for the rest of us, too... the meals, vacation souvenirs, project supplies and the list goes on. Jace heard a commercial with Frozen on it and immediately thought of Julie while singing it. On the flip side, Jace is back at Monas with Hudson and the other kiddos. We are so proud of him transitioning back like hes never been gone. His week was great and he was referencing friends from there this weekend while playing. I realized he does add time onto our morning routine, but couldnt be happier all piling in the car and driving into school and Monas. Who would of ever thought that could be something Id miss? He hollers love you to Em and Gage as they are getting out and it makes them smile every time! Mona has him napping with the others and it seems to be going ok. I was worried about that because he still sleeps in his crib and prefers the door to be shut :) Heres the news weve been waiting for! Friday nurse Heidi called with the run down for next week. 12/2 Jace will have a bone marrow biopsy and CT scan at Childrens bright and early and a MIBG injection at Nebraska Medicine in the afternoon. 12/3 he will have a MIBG scan at Nebraska Medicine. If 12/3 scans are not acceptable, we will repeat MIBG on 12/4 with a follow-up with Dr. Lowas in the afternoon. I dont even know how to describe how anxious I feel. I cannot wait to know if Jace is clear and his treatment plan worked or if we have to find Plan B. I dont know of any other news that could be so life changing. This has been the time weve been counting down to and now that its here, there is part of me that doesnt know what to do. I honestly cant imagine our lives not continuing to gain more freedom away from cancer. Its been great having Jace be more stable and less roller coasterish. He is looking sooo good...even with his crazy hair which occasionally sports some rooster tails. I pray the endless worry eases and we have more to be thankful for. His dimpled smile overfills our hearts with love and builds our strength just in time to cross the finish line. Thank you for the continued prayers and concern for our superman! Jace, you got this buddy!
