Last Saturday seen Clanrye take on Ashgrove in the 3rd round of the Mid-Ulster Shield. Clanrye killed the game of in the first half as they hit 6 goals in the opening 45 minutes. Robbie Tasker opened the scoring early on with a good run from deep to meet a Raymond Hughes cross. Brian Dillon then made it 2-0 with a good strike from the edge of the box and then followed this up with a fine run from the half way line when he intercepted a pass and dribbled by 3 players before dispatching the ball through the keepers legs. The game was not going all Clanryes way as Jamie McEvoy made a couple of brilliant saves in the half and Shaun The Power Brady was on excellent form. Clanrye however finished the half strongly as Tasker got the end of a Mark Finnegan free kick with an excellent header into the top corner, followed by an exquisite lob from 25 yards, Mark Finnegan the rounded the scoring of in the first half to make it 6-0. Clanrye never really came out for the second half as Ashgrove scored 3 unanswered goals in the second half due to a few sloppy mistakes from the Clans but they never looked like conceding 7 goals and finished the game out comfortably.
