Last Thursday, Harley-Davidson unveiled a new concept motorcycle that marks the company’s first foray into electric vehicle manufacturing. The bike weighs 460 pounds and is powered by a three-phase AC electric induction motor, which produces 74 horsepower and 8000 rpm. It can go from zero to 60 mph in under four seconds, but with only one gear, it can only reach 92 mph. Unlike traditional Harleys, future users of the LiveWire may not want to take this on long drives, as the bike has an average range of 53 miles with 3.5 hours to get a full recharge. As for the unique Harley sound? Harley say LiveWire has “an unmistakable new sound”.
