Last Tuesday the legendary Gwyn Haslock (who is now 70 yrs young) was up and ready at 6am to catch the early morning surf at Porthcothan. Gwyn has been surfing at Newquay and nearby breaks on her longboard for over fifty years and has been to Porthcothan to share waves on Original boards a number of times but she has never brought her long board to Porthcothan - so it was very special to witness her very first longboard surf here - and also her first wave on a Japanese Itago nori board made by nobbywoodsurfboards kindly sent to me as a cultural exchange with Nobuhito Nobby Ohkawa as well as catch a number of waves on The Original Surfboard Company boards too.
