Last evening I listened to left right and center and to counter spin. They included discussions of the comparisons of Russia behavior to the U.S. history. Some suggested that it was the U.S. which has set the standard for invasions of sovereign nations for reasons of protecting U.S. and others foreign to the area. And for other excuses, humanitarian or not. They mentioned invasions and meddling in Iraq, Libya and Syria. No one mentioned Grenada. No mention of Panama or Nicaragua. The Grenada example is a good one. It used the peril faced by the Canadian and other foreign nationals who were kept in the plane on the airport tarmac for days before they were allowed to leave as examples of the need to invade. (Actually, the plane was kept grounded and in supposed peril because the U.S. made sure the regional air traffic control refused permission for the plane to leave. It wasnt the government of Grenada which put all those people in a bad way. We, the U.S., ourselves did it in order to influence opinion to justify our invasion.)
