Last excerpt of my history of med/food giant Bayer 28 posts ago: 4 more of their interesting products: anticonception, erection pill, antibiotic and more pesticide Yaz/Yasmin/Yasminelle/Beyaz/Ocella/Zarah/Angeliq – birth control pills that are marketed with overstatements of approved use and as a treatment for PMDD and acne. Risks are denied and the pills are not properly monitored, resulting in unwanted pregnancies, blood clots and hyperkalemia. In 2012 there were 12.000 lawsuits. 1977 had been settled for an average of $212k per case, Bayer was found guilty of lying about risks, lack of proper research of the medication and failing to recall the drug after the potentially life-threatening side-effects were clear. Parathion – insecticide invented in WWII, highly toxic to even humans, used as chemical weapon, banned and restricted in many countries, still in production. Around a hundred agricultural workers in the US have died from poisoning since the introduction in the US in the 1960s. In 2001 24 children in Peru died from parathion-contaminated milk substitute. Ciprofloxacin – a powerful antibiotic, best used as a last resort for urinary tract and intestinal infections. The widespread use for minor infections caused bacteria to develop resistance to the drug. Bayer did not warn anyone about the tendon ruptures and sometimes life-threatening breathing problems as side effects. Levitra/Vivanza/Staxyn – an erection medicine. Possible side-effects: abdominal pain, back pain, photo-sensitivity, abnormal vision, eye pain, facial edema, hypotension, palpitation, tachycardia, arthralgia, myalgia, rash, itch, priapism, sudden hearing loss, and heart attacks.
