In 2012 there were 12.000 lawsuits. 1977 had been settled for an average of $212k per case, Bayer was found guilty of lying about risks, lack of proper research of the medication and failing to recall the drug after the potentially life-threatening side-effects were clear. Parathion – insecticide invented in WWII, highly toxic to even humans, used as chemical weapon, banned and restricted in many countries, still in production. Around a hundred agricultural workers in the US have died from poisoning since the introduction in the US in the 1960s. In 2001 24 children in Peru died from parathion-contaminated milk substitute. Ciprofloxacin – a powerful antibiotic, best used as a last resort for urinary tract and intestinal infections. The widespread use for minor infections caused bacteria to develop resistance to the drug. Bayer did not warn anyone about the tendon ruptures and sometimes life-threatening breathing problems as side effects. Levitra/Vivanza/Staxyn – an erection medicine. Possible side-effects: abdominal pain, back pain, photo-sensitivity, abnormal vision, eye pain, facial edema, hypotension, palpitation, tachycardia, arthralgia, myalgia, rash, itch, priapism, sudden hearing loss,and heart attacks.
