Last night (9:30p) on my way home from our camp, I stopped at the Allouez BP for the kids to get goodies for a cousins sleepover. A young man came in looking for help. His bicycle tire had a blowout and was hoping someone could help with it. He was trying to get to his place in Houghton which was 20+ miles away. He said he had been walking for at least 20min already. With no one to help him, I ran my kids home and went back up to see if he was still there. The girl at the gas station said he had started the walk home. I went up the road and found him, and offered him a ride. (Was I crazy?!) He hopped in with bike and all. Learned he was from Singapore and was doing cloud research at MTU (degree in physics). This was his third year here (with no family) and has 4 siblings. He then learned that I lived in Mohawk, and couldnt believe Id drive all the way to Houghton just to bring him home. He was so thankful and I left happy knowing I met a really nice person.
