Last night, I along with other #BronxitesForNYPDAccountability, attended the Bronx 4-1 Precincts monthly monotony, which is the Community Council Meeting. I informed the standing-room only audience that the Bronx generates the most amount of officer abuse complaints, costing the citys taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars in settlement hush-money stemming from those abuses. The Bronx is the #1 recipient of settlement claims stemming from officers abuses. With that said, I asked newly promoted commander Materasso (previously assigned to the notorious 4-0 Precinct) to furnish monthly officer abuse complaint data along with the traditional crime stats readily provided at council meetings in a good faith effort to be transparent and build a rapport with the community as of the next monthly precinct/community meeting. At first she was reluctant. Then stated she would look into furnishing only closed CCRB cases. I retorted, you dont wait until arrests officers make reach their final court disposition (which would take years) before telling us with certainty about alleged crime in our community. To which she was still non-committal. On Wednesday, to his credit, neighboring 4-3 Precinct Commander Green verbally committed, before about 100 witnesses, to incorporate complaint data in his council presentations. Please call Materasso and implore her to do the same in order to live up to the NYPDs expressed mission statement, goals, and values. Call your immediate precinct commander and demand that he/she take responsibility for officers assigned to their commands and do the same, and dont let them tell you you are not from this community. The Bronx is OUR community! We LIVE here, they just earn their taxpayer-subsidized checks here. Lets work. Share far and wide. #BronxitesforNYPDAccountability #Reposted I support this movement.
