Last night, I attended Poetry Night at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. It was hosted by Caridad de la Luz also known as La Bruja. It was a packed audience. Caridads performance was spectacular. Not only did we hear some of her poetry, but she gave a first class performance when she sang Boleros. Her voice reminds me of Celina Gonzalez, the great Cuban Vocalist. There was also open mic, where members of the audience joins in to do a poetry or sing. A gentleman from Chicago by the name of REYES mesmerize the crowd with his poetry. A young lady by the name of STORM took the place by storm when she belted out a song. Caridads kids joined her by singing in the chorus. They also did a beautiful rendition of California Dreaming. Much credit to the Latin Jazz group performing and Rums of Puerto Rico for sponsoring the evening.
