Last night I attended the last of the candidate meetings in the Kimbolton Hall. There were about 25 locals & it nice to meet a teenage voter- the only one over the four evenings. The question time revolved around rural rating & whether economic development should be the responsibility of council(s) From my estimates there has been about 80 locals turn up to the 4 candidate meetings out of a total of 4232 voters in the Northern Manwatu Ward. That is less than 2%. Last elections 46.5% of all electors in the Manawatu District as a whole chose to vote.
