Last night I attended the meeting with WPD and other community leaders to address police corruption right here at home. Unlike the city council meetings where the people on the throne dont answer questions even when asked (at least until you sit down and then you cant speak when they do address your issue) Community members were allowed to ask questions and were supposed to get answers. The problem? We still didnt get answers. I asked the specific question... What policy or procedure prevents you from responding to a Kansas open records act request that requested the officers names who has been placed on the Brady/Gigleo list The answer... We have some personnel and Union issues Personnel and union issues?!? First...these people work for the taxpayers, so Im not buying the personnel issue and no specific policy or personnel code was provided to where I could find this issue in writing. Second... Unions dont foot the responsibility of payroll...the taxpayers do! Again...no answers. There were specific questions that were again danced around...why are corrupt officers like Dirty Harry still employed? (No answer) Why is it the DA Marc Bennett never had a grand jury convened to investigate these officers who have killed our citizens? (Answer He is now aware of this is a question) What kind of answer is that? Why does media seem to once again, act as though everything is just peachy? Who do they really represent? Thing are not peachy and most certainly are not transparent and all we are getting is smoke... It time people wake up and realize we do have a serious problem and its no longer just affecting the African American and Hispanic communities. This has spilled into everyones community. And please dont give me the if you dont break the law you have nothing to worry about Because I am not a criminal, dont even have a speeding ticket and I pay more in taxes that any WPD officer or detective makes in a year...and I was treated like trash by the officers that were on my sons case...and just wait until I release the transcripts of the prosecutor Trinity Muth attacking me in a court room with blatant lies. And should we talk about the ramifications if you know your rights and what you will face if you do express your rights? They arrested my pregnant daughter-in-law (who was no part of what happened to my son and was not even there) when she invoked her right at the hospital to an attorney and then the detective stated oh we can play that game...cuff her Or how my son was taken from the hospital after being shot (without any of us being told or allowed to see him as we were all confined to a quiet room with a Chaplin with the belief he may not live) and was then was questioned without Miranda while on strong narcotics all the while our attorney was at city hall trying to get to him for over an hour and was never allowed in the building. This is real...and is no longer going to be brushed under the rug. What these people have been crying out for years is true and its crossed the line of race...who is next? Your child? Your grandchild? Your brother? Your sister? When are you going to realize this is a serious problem and that it must stop? This will not continue if Im elected and they know it...this why they are pulling every good ol boy trick in the book to keep people like me out. (and there are others stepping up that are also being alienated by media and organizations that refuse to let the average person be heard especially if your not in their pocket or not able to spend millions for the air time) And I believe its time we hold them ALL accountable, including those who are at the election office. Its time for real transparency and real people in office who will do just that. #winn2015
