Last night I could not sleep. So, in my half awake stupor, I opened the night stand drawer to search for a cough drop. None there. Fell back asleep with the drawer slightly open. Woke up to my huge (very heavy) cat screaming because she had tried to walk along the night stand (like she does every morning), slipped, and she was hanging by one leg from the drawer. I woke from a dead sleep and somehow knew exactly what had happened and grabbed her and lifted her out. She ran out of the room. I followed. She was rattled, but ok. I felt horrible for her. I love my cat and dont want anything bad to happen to her. Then this thought crossed my mind. So many people think God is a vengeful and mean being. That He purposefully lets horrible things happen to us and enjoys it. I think, after feeling how I did about my cat this morning (unbelievably sad and concerned- and I did not create my cat) that God is amazingly filled with empathy and caring for us when we slip on the slopes of this life and get ourselves hurt or in trouble. And the feelings for us must be SO much deeper because He DID create us. So, if youre hurting right now, in any way, I believe our Heavenly Father is feeling for you, with all the love in His being. Hold on. He wants to help you through whatever youre hanging on for dear life to get through. And he cares so much for each of us, including you!
