Last night I decided to reflect. I copied and pasted here to share. As this year comes to a close I am left with many thoughts about all the changes and events that took place in 2014. There have been highs and lows. Good days and bad days. Some days we have moved ahead as we work toward our goals and other days we’ve had to take a step back and reevaluate where we were going. I usually start off a year with a plan and goals that I hope to reach by years end…. 2014 started off with the task of continuing to learn to be a Dad to a 2 year old little girl who melts my heart every time she looks at me, try to be the smartest, strongest, positively predictable Dad I can be for my boys and support my 4th time pregnant wife as she grows increasingly tired with Little Catie Jean growing inside. My wife amazes me every day with all she manages to do but what makes it even better is she still finds the time to support the things that I love to do, run her photography business, which is some of the best photography work I think I’ve seen, be a great mom, and keep reaching to do better. She also finds the time to help Zink & Company, The Mason Zink Band, encourage our children to be involved in as many things as they can and she goes above and beyond to give each of our children the individual attention that they need. Needless to say I am Proud of who she is and all that she does. I know I don’t have the strength that she has…. Maybe this is my way of telling her. I’d never admit that to her face. Having her in my life has been a true blessing and I continue to learn so much about life and being a Dad and a husband because of her unwavering dedication to “Team Zink”. I say “Team Zink” because I realize now that a “Team” is exactly what our little family has become. A team works together, learns together, grows together and create a bond that will last forever. I am grateful to have the team I have and being a Dad and a husband is the best education I have ever had. On another “note” no pun intended, this time. Zink and Company has grown more than I ever thought possible in such a short time. Larry, John and Ray are some of the best guys you’ll ever know and they are “Real”. Just another Team I am very fortunate to be a part of… the overwhelming support by our fans, family and friends is something that I continue to be thankful for and amazed by because everyone knows I can’t live with my music. It’s remarkable to me that Melissa Zink Photography continues to do Team Zink proud as Missy continues to expand her business while being the MVP of “TEAM ZINK”. Little Mason Zink has become quite the Harmony singer this year and has begun to encourage his Brother Cooper to sing more and come out of his shell a little bit. Cooper is also making us proud as top of his class and is smarter than his Father already. Molly is determined that she is going to be some kind of “STAR” but we are unsure if it will be for singing or if she’ll be on a drama series. Little Catie Jean came along this year in October and boy she certainly has made her mark. She was early by a few weeks and I realize now that’s because she wanted to see her Mama’s face. Out of all of our children she has been the one who cannot be without her mama the most. There is a special bond there that I can see will never be broken and I and very happy so see such love in those little eyes for the one who deserves it the most. We were very excited to welcome Catie Jean this year as we got the sad news that my stepmom, Betty Jean was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Sept. I may sound a bit selfish here but I honestly have a hard time understanding why someone so wonderful and someone who never sees the bad in anything should have to endure such a terrible circumstance. As she is, Betty Jean remains the Angel that she always has been and continues to teach us all lessons about loving life and people. Her fight goes on and we pray and pray that in 2015 she will be given the chance to continue to be such a guiding light to all of us here on Earth. There have been losses of many friends this past year. I have been tested, I am learning and I am thankful to have all of you in my life. Looking into 2015 there will be more changes, more ups and downs but I believe that the best way to manage these challenges is to hold our loved ones as close as we can. My goals for this coming year are to make every day better than the day before, Cherish the little moments and to stop assuming that I am smarter than I am. I ask all of you to pray for Betty Jean and my Dad (Ron). Please also pray for all of those who struggle every day. Thank you again for your friendship, love, and support. Oh yeah, don’t forget to BAKE!!!!
