Last night I had something AMAZING happen to/for me!!!! I was given a SURPRISE 60th birthday/30 year daycare provider party!!! I think I am still in shock that so many people could know about something, and yet I had ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE about it!!!! My sweet daughter, Sarah, realized that with her brother, Jonathan, turning 30 this year, that meant that I had been providing daycare to children for 30 years, as I retired from my job as a legal secretary after Jonathan was born. I have babysat children since I was 9, but it became my passion and job after Jonathan was born. The first to come to “Miss Diane’s Funny Farm”(that’s how I refer to my place) was Justin, and through the years I have had the pleasure to keep children of friends, and children whose parents then became my lifelong friends. In addition, most people that know me and Bruce know that we also kept foster children for quite a few years. Last night I was blessed to have family, church family, Jobie family and foster families to help me celebrate!!! Sarah and my sneaky, but wonderful husband, Bruce, asked for help from Jonathan and his girlfriend, Lindsay, Elisa, Kim Kim, Mary Anne, Melissa, David, Arrington, Michael and Alston , Kim, Valerie Sprouse, and Bill and Christi Tanous, and they all readily pitched in to make the night a SMASHING SUCCESS!!!!! Sarah and Melissa put together a slide show of me from infancy to the present day, and it was WONDERFUL!!! SO MANY MEMORIES!!! I got lots sweet and special cards and gifts, and in addition, Sarah made me a scrapebook with pictures of numerous children I have kept through the years, and many of them and their parents wrote me a note telling me how I had impacted their lives!!!! It was SO SPECIAL to read what each of them said – as well as I could between the tears!!!! THANK YOU to everyone that had any part in making last night such a SPECIAL and MEMORIABLE time for me!!! My heart is overflowing with love and gratitude to each of you, and to the many others that weren’t able to be there last night, but that also have a special place in my heart. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for giving me such a wonderful gift!!!! LOVE, Mama, Nanny, Miss Diney, Aunt Diane, Mom Diane, Mama Diane, or whatever you have called me through the years!!!
