Last night, I saw the film, The Interview, a political satire - TopicsExpress

Last night, I saw the film, The Interview, a political satire comedy about a talk show host and a journalist who are given a chance to interview Kim Jong-un, the current leader of North Korea. But when the CIA learns of the upcoming interview, they plan to use the opportunity to assassinate the great leader. However, this is easier said than done. Pros: The film is hilarious, and had me on the edge of my seat for many parts of the film. Each of the actors and actresses delivered their performances with little to no flaw. The politics (or political satire in this case) between the United States and North Korea are explored, as is the alleged ability that Kim Jong-un has as a master manipulator. The film also includes notable and humorous cameos from well known celebrities such as Eminem, Rob Lowe, Bill Maher, Seth Meyers, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Brian Williams. In conclusion, I am very glad that the film was not pulled from theaters as was planned due to threats of violence from the Guardians of Peace hackers (however, the film can be viewed on online sites such as YouTube). Cons: There is always a danger when you do a film about a powerful enemy such as North Korea. This was evident by North Koreas negative response to the film. Remember, North Korea is ruled by a man with a serious ego problem with a very large nuclear arsenal at his disposal. So when you insult him or make a film about him being assassinated, you are playing with fire. Remember, if you play with fire, you might get burned. I also believe that there were some scenes that could have been done better. Overall, I give this film four and a half stars out of a possible five.
