Last night I was thinking about our bedtime rituals. Wren is usually ready for bed before me. She starts with her aby-border collie herding technique, giving me gentle (and occasionally not-so-gentle) bites on my ankles and calfs. Some nights she waits for me, laying against my legs as I watch TV or read. Other nights Wren goes on to bed without me. As I crawl into bed, Wren waits on the corner of the bed - facing the door, as if she were my protector. And as I started to wind down, Wren makes her rounds.. she went to the window for a bit then back out to the dark condo. After I turned out the light and my eyes are heavy.. Just as I drift off, I hear it... the whack-whack-whackity-whack of our favorite wand toy being dragged down the hall and the wand hitting the walls as she carries the pink flamingo in her mouth. I woke up with the toy wrapped around one foot. Almost always I wake up with toys in bed that werent there when I went to sleep the night before. What strange and wonderful rituals do your abys carry out?
