Last night, KRIS 6 News aired an investigative story on troubling reports of the Social Security Administration (SSA) withholding tax refunds. The agency claims that it overpaid survivor benefits and had been collecting its debts by withholding tax refunds. While the SSA recently directed an immediate halt to this practice, I still have concerns and have called for further investigation: This looks to me like it violates the due process clause, along with common sense.
