Last night, Nigel Kennedy played at the Proms with the Palestine Strings - a group of young musicians, some just in their early teens, from the West Bank and Gaza. Near the end of the concert, Nigel told the audience: "We all know from experiencing this night of music tonight that, given equality, and getting rid of apartheid, gives a beautiful chance for amazing things to happen" Amazing things did happen last night, with young musicians, who live their lives under brutal military occupation and apartheid, playing beautiful music at the Proms. They wore their keffiyehs - the Palestinian symbol of resistance - throughout the concert. Respect to them and to Nigel Kennedy.
