Last night a 16-year-old boy read a chapter or two in a psychology book in the Executive Suite of our Bed and Breakfast. Over breakfast I asked him what he had learned about the brain and he told me. He also mentioned that he sometimes disagreed with his teachers and pointed out their errors. He might not take my advice, but he is bright and Im sure he heard what I said. You will be told in school that you are supposed to think for yourself. This is a lie. If you want to get through school and if you want to get along in this world, you will do exactly what you are told and you will keep your opinions to yourself. If you ever disagree with what someone tells you, you will smile and nod and keep that information to yourself. If asked for an opinion, you will say, Im not sure, but perhaps... The boys grandfather agreed with me 100%. Both the boys grandfather and The humble Farmer have the nasty habit of telling the truth and both can tell you that there aint no money in it.
