Last night at bedtime, my 5 year old daughter gave me six pennies and said, Here is some money for Family Promise if you dont win. I was both touched and humbled. Touched that she cared enough to give all but one of her pennies to help the homeless (she took one back:) and humbled because I realized how consumed I have been with this competition. ($25,000 is not only 15% of our budget but we are still projected to be $8000 in the red in June, the end of our fiscal budget). After she gave me the pennies, I expressed how thankful I was, but if I could do that moment again I would have said, You dont have to worry about us not winning. We have an awesome team of friends and family who are voting because they love Family Promise, care for homeless families and are doing all they can to support us. They wont let us lose. Here is your money back!:) I hope that sounds more humbly confident than cocky, but I think you get the idea... Every day I am so gratefully surprised at the creative and continual ways people are sharing the news about Family Promise. Truly, thank you for your support. We really couldnt do it without you.
