Last night at the Grammy Museum, I watched a work in progress - TopicsExpress

Last night at the Grammy Museum, I watched a work in progress movie, Jaco: A Documentary Film that told the story of Bassist, Jaco Pastorius, a self-taught, larger than life musician who reinvented the electric bass; giving the instrument a powerful dynamic voice that had both edge and beauty. Jaco was a genius..Jaco was manic..Jaco was like trying to hold on to the wind or a cloud...there are some incredible insights from an array of artists (Flea, Joni Mitchell, Sting, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Geddy Lee, Bootsy Collins, Carlos Santana) as well as Jaco’s family, and friends. It unveils the story of his music, his life, his tragic demise, and ultimately the fragility of great artistic genius. This movie, produced by Metallicas Robert Trajillo, will make its debut at the South by Southwest film festival. In the photos: Robert Trajillo talks about the film before the screening. After the screening there was a panel discussion with Jacos son John Pastorious, Bassist Jerry Jemmott, Robert, Director Paul Marchand and the Grammy Museums Representative. Also pictured is artwork for the DVD cover.
