Last night, my 21 year old son, Beau, who has been living in Colorado, and I were sitting in my bedroom discussing finances and how the little kids and I were going to live from now on. I told him I had been thinking lately of a fiber farm, and that I really wanted to get into raising chickens in a big way again. Finally I said, I guess its really silly for me to ever think I could make any money that way, much less much of a living. Beau smiled his gentle smile and said, Well, mom, you might break even and maybe even make a tiny bit, but even if you dont, I think its okay for you to go ahead and spend a little bit of money on it, because you enjoy it so much, and you are going to need things like that from now on. I had to smile, because I think for the first time, I got permission from one of my children to go ahead and be the crazy old chicken lady! :)
