Last night my Aunt Maddy passed away. Over this past year, she battled a rare form of cancer which caused her much pain and suffering. Having no children of her own, I feel it is my duty and responsibility, as one of her God-children, to carry on her legacy and teachings. One of her many pieces of advice that was passed down to me is that if you ever worry about meeting new people and making new friends, just walk around with a fresh bag of chips and introduce yourself! As silly as it may sound, this is just a single great example of her generous, open, and friendly nature. Sometimes, we get so caught up in our daily concerns that we forget to send love back into the world. Life is not something to be taken for granted. Life is impermanent and fragile, but precious nonetheless. Let your friends and loved ones know how much you appreciate them because we are not always given a second chance to do so. One of her profound accomplishments was founding a non-profit organization called Michaels House that served as a support group for grieving young children who had lost loved ones of their own. She dedicated her life to service, compassion, and love. At first I thought it may be inappropriate to share such a happy song, but I know that she would understand life is one big joyous occasion, a celebration. This song was one of her favorites, as well as mine! She knew how to dance, she knew how to laugh, but most of all, she knew how to love. Heaven welcomes a new angel today... https://youtube/watch?v=wBNewLDy3pQ
