Last night our sweet nephew was a passenger in a high speed crash on Rt. 20 in Saybrook. Jacob is a gregarious athletic 15 year old. He was life flighted from Ashtabula to Metro Health. He is in the PICU in critical condition with a brain injury that required a bolt to be drilled into his skull to measure brain swelling. We are hopeful there will be no additional swelling so he wont require a portion of his skull to be removed. He is on a ventilator. He has a deep laceration to the temple region that the plastic surgeon commented she was getting a lot of practice in sewing his face. Numerous facial breaks a skull break, small brain bleed, bruised lungs and a broken pelvis which will require surgery today to repair with plates, screws and pins. They are very concerned about the possibility of bleeds from all the blood vessels by the pelvis and of course his brain injury. He has a long road to recovery and is not out of the woods. I believe in the power of prayer. Please include Jacob in your prayers that he can be strong and fight. For his parents who are living their worst nightmare that they can be strong for Jacob and for the other three young men injured in the accident and for the doctors that they can heal Jacob.
