Last night portions of the Smokies received over 3 inches of rain in a few hour span. This dangerous straight line thunderstorm system dealt the region with multiple deluges that made the Little River swell from a 1 and a 1/2 feet to over 5 feet in a few hours time. Heres a video of the Sinks area from around 10:00 this morning. If you are heading out into the backcountry today, be careful around stream crossings. You may want to avoid trails that have multiple foot bridges until later on this afternoon.
