Last night, the board discussed multiple items. Some highlights, we are awaiting further information on the current lease purchase proposal. Please let me know your feedback or if you would support an override or bonds for this November’s election. Some of the discussion on re-organization had the board discussing the idea of making the middle school a k-8 school, and moving back to k-6 in our elementary schools, amongst others, we are gathering more input. Please feel free to let me know your ideas or what you think. Lastly, I am very disappointed that the board approved transportation stipends for 9 people, mostly administrator’s making more than $65,000 salaries. It was a 3-2 vote with Baggs, Brauge and Roland voting in favor and myself, Caron against. The total cost was $17,400. This coming after the board voted (4-1, I voted no) to approve fee increases last meeting for accelerated programs at the high school due to supply cuts by the administration. This is just one of the fees that could have been offset with these funds. I am glad to know that we should be live streaming our meetings soon (cameras are installed) so that the parents, taxpayers and the stakeholders in our district can see what is occurring. The argument came down from the assistant superintendent that this was part of their salaries and not for transportation for getting around the sites after I made the point that the district has vehicles that could be used. This benefit was eliminated in February when the board approved renewal contracts. I believe that everyone is affected and I shared that these administrator’s should share in on the reductions to help our students and parent take part in all the district activities and program without higher costs. I urge you to email the board to let them know how you feel on transportation stipends, [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected].
